His Grace, Archbishop Sione Uluilakepa, had the honor of opening the groundbreaking ceremony for the long-anticipated renovation of St Lawrence Anglican Church in Nausori. This milestone marks the culmination of years of careful planning and development to upgrade and preserve one of Fiji’s treasured historic landmarks.

Prominently located on Nausori’s Main Street, St Lawrence is celebrated in the town’s local-history records and widely recognized on community and visitor pages as an iconic feature of the Nausori delta—often described as the oldest Anglican church on Viti Levu. Public photo collections and local galleries have long captured the church’s distinctive presence near the Rewa River delta, reflecting its place in the cultural and architectural story of the region.
Today, the congregation of St Lawrence continue to serve as a vibrant center of worship and community life, even as it steps into a new chapter of renewal and preservation for generations to come. The faithful community of St Lawrence uphold this vibrancy by gathering in one another’s homes for worship, joyfully sustaining their fellowship as they eagerly await the completion of their beloved church.
