Ordination of Deacons Sua Kolui and Siteri Kauvadra

On Sunday, March 16, 2025, the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Suva was filled with joy, reverence, and the presence of the Holy Spirit as we gathered to witness the ordination of Sua Kolui and Siteri Kauvadra to the diaconate. This sacred milestone was officiated by The Most Reverend Sione Uluilakepa, Archbishop of the Anglican Church in Polynesia, marking a profound step in Sua and Siteri’s journey of faith and service.

Both candidates have spent years in dedicated theological study, pastoral ministry, and spiritual formation at St. John the Baptist Theological College (SJTBTC). Their ordination stands not only as a personal achievement but as a powerful witness to their steadfast commitment to God’s call and the mission of the Church.

As they knelt before the Archbishop, surrounded by clergy, loved ones, and the wider Anglican community, prayers were offered for grace, wisdom, and humility as they embraced their new roles as Deacons—servants of Christ, called to care, proclaim, and lead with love.

The service was a deeply moving celebration, interwoven with the rich cultural traditions of Polynesia. The gospel procession, enhanced by traditional attire and melodic chants, reflected the beautiful harmony between faith and heritage. Members of ACOMSA took part in the offertory procession, presenting gifts with woven floral leis and traditional dances—expressions of devotion and thanksgiving.

Clergy from across the Diocese, alongside faculty and students of SJTBTC, came together to affirm the importance of nurturing Church leadership through theological education. The service concluded with a heartfelt blessing over Sua and Siteri, commissioning them into ministry with the full support and prayers of the Church.

With their ordination, Sua and Siteri begin their ministry as Deacons—proclaiming the Gospel, serving the vulnerable, and walking closely with the people of God. Their journey continues as shepherds rooted in Christ’s love, living out their vocation in their communities.

At St. John the Baptist Theological College, we give thanks for their faithfulness and celebrate this significant moment. May God’s guidance be ever present in their ministry, and may their service inspire many.

Congratulations, Reverend Sua Kolui and Reverend Siteri Kauvadra!
Let us continue to uphold them in prayer as they begin this new chapter of faithful service.
