42nd Session of Synod of the Diocese of Polynesia

2025 marks 100 years from the first Diocesan Synod in 1925.

The 42nd Diocesan Synod of the Diocese of Polynesia

Representatives of the Diocese of Polynesia has gathered in Suva for the 42nd Diocesan Synod Session. Members of Laity, House of Clergy and House of Bishop’s from the New Zealand, Western Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga.

The opening of the Synod was by His Grace Archbishop Sione Silongo Uluilakepa and the announcement of His charge for the direction of the Diocese for the next 2-3 years

The diocesan Synod has been tasked with discussions on important matters of the church. The 4 days meeting conference has been themed with each of the 5 marks of Mission.

Monday 8th December – Striving to safeguard the integrity of Creation,

and sustain and renew the life of the Earth

Tuesday 9th December – Responding to Human Needs by Loving Service

Wednesday 10th December – Seeking to transform unjust structures of society

Thursday 11th December – Teaching, Nurturing and Baptising New Believers.

Sharing the Good News of GOD’s Kingdom.

Present will be Reverend Michael Hughes the General Secretary of the Anglican Church in New Zealand, Aotearoa and Polynesia to assist and ensure that synod be held in standard with the Church Canon.

We pray that the 42nd session of the Synod of the Diocese of Polynesia be led by the Holy Spirit and mandate the direction of the mission and ministries of the Anglican Church in Polynesia.
