The Anglican Church in the Diocese of Polynesia has taken a transformative step into the digital age with the official launch of its brand-new website. Serving the diverse and vibrant communities of Fiji, Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, and the Polynesian communities in Aotearoa New Zealand, this new platform represents a significant milestone in enhancing connection and communication across the Pacific.
Officially launched on 23 May 2025, the website comes as a response to the increasing need for accessible and centralized digital platforms in today’s world. The site is a user-friendly, visually engaging, and spiritually enriching space where members of the Diocese and our partners can learn more about the Diocese’s mission, ministry, and activities.
In a statement marking the launch, the Archbishop Sione emphasized that
“the Diocesan website is not just an IT digital platform but a powerful medium that assists in enhancing and strengthening our relationship and connectedness both in the Diocese and the wider community of faith. As disciples of the Risen Christ, this tool is a vehicle to assist in our proclamation of the gospel of Christ that brings living hope, peace, joy, and love to the whole people of God.”
The launch of the website is only the beginning. As the church continues to evolve in a rapidly changing world, the Diocese of Polynesia affirms its commitment to proclaiming the Gospel through every available means, both traditional and new.
The Diocese has also launched a file-sharing system for diocesan staff. This platform enables the secure exchange of records, material, and resources of the Diocese. It is a system to strengthen our communication and according to Mr Taniela Koloamatangi, who assisted the Diocese in this initiative, that this is the beginning of an ongoing development for the Diocese and to build something for the future of the church in this digital era.
Together, these tools are a testament to the Diocese’s forward-looking vision: to remain spiritually rooted while embracing innovation that connects and empowers its communities.
